StudyDerm

StudyDerm Terms of Service

Last updated: 24 October 2026

These terms are the contract between you and us when you create a StudyDerm account or buy a plan. Please read them. They include a clause on your exam results (section 3.3) and limits on our liability (section 15). Nothing in them takes away your legal rights as a consumer (section 16).

1. Who we are

1.1 StudyDerm is a trading name of FINTECH SERVICES LTD ("Fintech Services Limited"), a company registered in England and Wales.

1.2 Company number: 13338780.

1.3 Registered office: Apollo House, Hallam Way, Whitehills Business Park, Blackpool, England, FY4 5FS.

1.4 VAT number: GB378913351.

1.5 Email: support@studyderm.app.

1.6 In these terms, "we", "us" and "our" mean Fintech Services Limited. "You" means the person who holds the account.

1.7 We are the seller. Stripe processes card payments for us. Stripe is not the seller and is not a party to this contract.

2. The service

2.1 StudyDerm is an online study aid for the UK Dermatology Specialty Certificate Examination (SCE). What we provide is access to practice questions, explanations, source links, a study roadmap, timed practice, and progress features such as streaks and points. We do not provide tutoring, formal assessment or any exam outcome (section 3.3).

2.2 The website is studyderm.app. The app is at my.studyderm.app.

2.3 Some content is free. The rest needs an active paid plan.

2.4 What you need. You need a modern web browser and an internet connection. Each practice round needs a connection to start. If your connection drops during a round, your finished round is saved when you are back online. There is no offline mode beyond this.

2.5 UK only. StudyDerm is sold only to customers based in the UK. Checkout asks for your billing address. We may refuse, cancel or refund an order with a billing address outside the UK.

3. What the service is not

3.1 It is unofficial. StudyDerm is not affiliated with, endorsed by or approved by the Federation of the Royal Colleges of Physicians of the UK, MRCP(UK), or any examining or professional body. Our questions are not past exam papers.

3.2 It is not clinical advice. The content is for exam revision only. Do not use it to diagnose, treat or manage any patient, and never rely on it for patient care. Always follow current national guidelines, local protocols and your own clinical judgement. Where our content and a current guideline differ, follow the guideline.

3.3 No promise or responsibility for your results

3.3.1 StudyDerm is a study aid only. What we provide is access to practice questions, explanations and study tools (section 2.1). We do not promise or guarantee any outcome, and we do not take responsibility for any outcome unless it results from our failure to use reasonable care and skill or our breach of these terms (see section 15). Outcomes include:

(a) passing or failing the SCE or any other examination;

(b) any mark, score or ranking, or how well you perform in an exam;

(c) any application, training post, progression or career result;

(d) how you use what you learn.

3.3.2 Scores in the app are practice features. Any score, mock exam result, pass mark, mastery percentage, rank, points (XP), streak or progress indicator in StudyDerm measures your practice within our question bank. It is not a prediction or assessment of how you will do in a real exam.

3.3.3 Exam results depend on things we do not control, including your effort and preparation, your health, exam conditions, and changes the examining body makes to the exam.

3.4 How content is reviewed

3.4.1 Before learners see it, content is checked against the sources it cites, through a documented review process. Content changed after it has been checked is hidden until it is checked again.

3.4.2 This is not clinical sign-off. No doctor, royal college, examining body or clinical organisation has approved or endorsed the content.

3.4.3 Errors are possible, and sources and guidelines change. You must not rely on the content for patient care (section 3.2). Our Content Accuracy and Complaints page gives more detail.

4. Who can use StudyDerm

4.1 You must be 18 or over to use StudyDerm. By creating an account you confirm that you are.

4.2 StudyDerm is meant for doctors, other health professionals and trainees. You confirm that you are using it for your own study.

4.3 You must not enter patient-identifiable information anywhere in StudyDerm. This includes names, dates of birth, NHS or hospital numbers, addresses, photographs and any detail that could identify a patient. StudyDerm has no features for patient data and is not designed to hold it.

5. Your account and signing in

5.1 You sign in with your email address and a one-time code we email to you. There is no password.

5.2 Each code works once and expires after 10 minutes.

5.3 Anyone who can read your email can sign in to your account. You must keep your email account secure and must not forward or share sign-in codes.

5.4 Tell us at support@studyderm.app straight away if you think someone else has used your account.

5.5 Give us an email address that is yours and that you check. We email you sign-in codes, order confirmations, renewal reminders and notices of price changes or changes to these terms. Payment receipts are sent by Stripe.

5.6 An account is for one named person. You must not share it, sell it or let anyone else use it.

5.7 If you choose a display name (for example for challenge links you send to friends), it must not be offensive, misleading, or someone else's name. Anyone you send a challenge link to will see it.

6. Your plan, payment and renewal

6.1 Your plan is the plan you chose at checkout. Its price, billing period and renewal date are shown at checkout and in your confirmation email.

6.2 The price shown includes VAT.

6.3 You pay in advance for each billing period.

6.4 Your plan renews automatically at the end of each billing period, and we take payment for the next period, until you cancel. For plans billed every six months or longer, we email you 14 to 30 days before each renewal.

6.5 You can cancel at any time from Manage billing in your account, which opens our payment provider's billing portal. If you cancel in Manage billing within the first 14 days, we will email you to choose: a full refund with your access ending when we process it, or keeping your access to the end of the period you have paid for. After the first 14 days, cancelling stops the next renewal and you keep access until the end of the period you have already paid for. A renewal does not start a new 14-day period.

6.6 If a renewal payment fails, you keep access for a grace period of 7 days while payment is retried. If payment still has not succeeded by the end of it, access to paid content stops until it does. Our Cancellation and Refunds Policy explains this.

6.7 Your rights to cancel and to a refund, including your 14-day legal right to cancel, are set out in our Cancellation and Refunds Policy. That policy forms part of these terms.

6.8 Payment disputes. If you dispute a payment with your bank or card issuer (a chargeback), we suspend your paid access and pause your billing while any dispute is open. You are not charged for any billing period that falls during the suspension, and you have no paid access for that time. If every open dispute is withdrawn or decided in our favour, your access returns for whatever is left of the period you paid for before the dispute, and your plan carries on and renews as normal. If a dispute is decided in your favour, your plan ends at once. We will not suspend access because of a payment dispute if the payment was taken after you cancelled.

How the contract is made

6.9 To buy a plan, you choose it in the app. You are then taken to a secure payment page run by Stripe for us.

6.10 The payment page shows the plan, its VAT-inclusive price, its billing period and how renewal works. It also shows your 14-day right to cancel and links to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. Before you can pay, you must tick a box that says "I agree to the Terms of Service and have read the Privacy Policy". Ticking it does not give up your right to cancel. By subscribing you agree to pay the price shown, including VAT, now and on each renewal until you cancel.

6.11 You can check your details and correct any mistakes on the payment page before you pay. You can also go back to the app without paying. We accept debit and credit cards.

6.12 When you order, you ask us to start your access straight away. You keep your 14-day right to cancel and to a full refund (section 6.5 and the Cancellation and Refunds Policy).

6.13 The contract is made when your payment is accepted. We then email you a confirmation without delay, before your paid access starts. It includes your plan details, your 14-day right to cancel with a cancellation form, and the version of these Terms of Service and the Privacy Policy that you agreed to.

6.14 The contract is in English only.

6.15 We keep each version of these terms. You can ask us for a copy of the version you agreed to at any time.

6.16 We do not subscribe to any code of conduct relevant to this contract.

7. Price changes

7.1 We will not change the price of your plan during a billing period you have already paid for.

7.2 We may change the price of your plan from a future renewal. If we do, we will email you at least 30 days before the renewal at which the new price first applies.

7.3 The email will give the new price and the date it applies.

7.4 If you do not want to pay the new price, you can cancel before that renewal. You will not be charged the new price, and you keep access until the end of the period you have paid for.

7.5 If you do not cancel, the new price applies from that renewal.

8. Your licence to use StudyDerm

8.1 While you have an account, we give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use StudyDerm and its content for your own private study.

8.2 Paid content is included in the licence only while your plan is active.

8.3 You must not:

(a) share your account or sign-in codes, or let anyone else use your account;

(b) copy, download, screenshot, print or record content in bulk, or keep a collection of it outside StudyDerm, beyond what your own personal revision reasonably needs;

(c) publish, sell, share, post or redistribute questions, answers or explanations, in whole or in part, including in study groups, forums, social media, question banks or teaching materials;

(d) use bots, scrapers, crawlers or other automated tools to access or collect content;

(e) carry out text and data mining, automated extraction or scraping of the content, or build any dataset or database from it, in whole or in part, except where the law allows this and cannot be excluded;

(f) copy, decompile, reverse engineer or try to get the source code of the app or API, except where the law allows this and cannot be excluded;

(g) get around, disable or interfere with the paywall, sign-in, rate limits or any security feature;

(h) use StudyDerm for any commercial purpose, including running courses or tutoring with our content.

9. Our intellectual property

9.1 We, or our licensors, own all rights in StudyDerm, including its questions, explanations, software, design and the StudyDerm name.

9.2 These terms do not give you any of those rights, except the licence in section 8.

9.3 Some images are used under third-party licences, such as Creative Commons. Those licences and the credits are listed on our Image Attribution page. Where a third-party licence gives you wider rights in a particular image, those rights apply to that image.

10. Acceptable use

10.1 You must not use StudyDerm:

(a) in any way that breaks the law;

(b) to harass, abuse or impersonate anyone;

(c) to send spam or harmful code, or to attack, overload or probe our systems;

(d) to enter patient-identifiable information (section 4.3);

(e) to mislead others about our content, for example by presenting it as official exam material.

11. Availability and changes to the service

11.1 We aim to keep StudyDerm available, but we do not promise it will always be available or free of faults. We may need to pause it for maintenance, security or reasons outside our control.

11.2 We may update, reorganise or replace content and features only for these reasons:

(a) to correct errors;

(b) to reflect new or changed guidelines, evidence or exam requirements;

(c) for security;

(d) to meet legal or regulatory requirements;

(e) to improve the service.

11.3 We may hide content while it is being corrected or checked again (section 3.4).

11.4 We aim for these changes not to materially reduce what you paid for during a billing period you have already paid for.

11.5 If a change materially reduces your plan. If a change materially reduces the paid content or features during a period you have paid for, we will tell you. You may then cancel, and we will refund the part of your payment that covers the rest of that period.

11.6 We may close StudyDerm altogether. If we do, we will give you at least 30 days' notice by email where we reasonably can, and refund the part of your payment that covers any period after the closure date.

12. Accuracy and corrections

12.1 We work hard to make content accurate and current, and we check it before it is shown (section 3.4). Even so, errors can happen, and guidelines can change after content is written.

12.2 If you think something is wrong, please tell us at support@studyderm.app. Our Content Accuracy and Complaints page explains how to report an error and what we do about it.

13. Suspension and termination by us

13.1 We may suspend or close your account, or end your access to paid content, if we reasonably believe that you have:

(a) committed or tried to commit fraud, including payment fraud;

(b) shared your account or sign-in codes;

(c) scraped, mined, bulk copied or redistributed content, or built a dataset or database from it (section 8.3);

(d) seriously or repeatedly broken these terms;

(e) abused or threatened our staff or other users.

13.2 We will tell you why and give you 7 days to respond, except where there is fraud or an ongoing security risk. Where the breach can be put right, we will give you a reasonable time to put it right. This section does not cover a payment dispute: section 6.8 sets out what happens then.

13.3 If we close your account under 13.1, we will refund the unused part of your payment, less our reasonable costs caused by the breach. If your plan ends because a payment dispute was decided in your favour (section 6.8), your bank or card issuer has already returned that payment to you, so we make no further refund for it.

13.4 We may also end your account for any other reason by giving you at least 30 days' notice. If we do, we will refund the part of your payment that covers any paid period after the account ends.

14. Ending your account

14.1 You can stop renewal at any time (section 6.5).

14.2 To close your account, email support@studyderm.app or privacy@studyderm.app from the email address on the account. We will close it and delete or anonymise your data as our Privacy Policy describes, within one month of confirming your request.

14.3 Sections 3.3, 8.3, 9, 15, 16, 21 and 22 continue after your account ends.

15. Our responsibility to you and its limits

15.1 What we never exclude. Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for:

(a) death or personal injury caused by our negligence;

(b) fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation;

(c) breach of your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, including that digital content must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described, and that services must be performed with reasonable care and skill;

(d) damage to your device or other digital content caused by our content where we did not use reasonable care and skill;

(e) anything else that the law does not allow us to limit or exclude.

15.2 Losses we are not responsible for. Subject to 15.1, we are not responsible for:

(a) loss that was not reasonably foreseeable when you entered this contract;

(b) indirect or consequential loss, meaning loss that does not flow directly and naturally from our breach;

(c) loss of profit, income, earnings, business, opportunity or career progression. StudyDerm is supplied for your private study only (section 4.2);

(d) exam results, any other outcome listed in section 3.3, and the cost of sitting an exam. These depend on things outside our control (section 3.3). We do not accept responsibility for them unless they result from our failure to use reasonable care and skill or our breach of these terms or of your legal rights;

(e) any decision or action you take, about a patient or otherwise, in reliance on the content, or any consequence of it. The content is not clinical advice. Never rely on it for patient care (section 3.2);

(f) interruptions to, or unavailability of, StudyDerm (section 11.1), except for the refunds set out in sections 11.5, 11.6 and 18.3;

(g) loss of data or progress that is stored only on your device, including progress lost because you cleared your browser data, used a different browser or device, or signed out before it was saved;

(h) the acts or failures of third-party services we do not control, including Stripe's payment pages and billing portal, your email provider, your internet connection and websites we link to as sources, and failures of our hosting and email providers, except where the failure means we have broken your statutory rights (15.1(c));

(i) loss caused by events outside our reasonable control (section 18);

(j) loss caused by your breach of these terms, or by someone else using your account because your email or sign-in codes were not kept secure, unless caused by our failure to take reasonable security measures.

15.3 Cap. Subject to 15.1, our total liability to you for all claims connected with these terms or StudyDerm is limited to the total amount you paid us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim.

15.4 The limits in this section apply to the fullest extent permitted by law.

16.1 You have legal rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. Digital content we supply must be of satisfactory quality, fit for its purpose and as described. Services we supply must be performed with reasonable care and skill.

16.2 If content or the service is faulty, you may be entitled to a repair or replacement, or in some cases a price reduction or refund.

16.3 Nothing in these terms affects these rights. For more information, contact Citizens Advice.

17. Data protection

17.1 We are the data controller for personal data we hold about you. Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect, why, how long we keep it, your rights, and how to complain about how we use your data. Data protection requests go to privacy@studyderm.app.

18. Events outside our control

18.1 We are not responsible for delay or failure caused by events outside our reasonable control. Examples include failure of internet, hosting, email or payment providers, cyber attacks we could not reasonably prevent, fire, flood, pandemic, strikes and government action.

18.2 If this happens, we will tell you as soon as we can and take reasonable steps to limit the effect.

18.3 If the event stops you using paid content for more than 30 days in a row, you may cancel and we will refund the part of your payment that covers the rest of that period.

19. Changes to these terms

19.1 We may change these terms only for one of these reasons:

(a) a change in the law, or in guidance from a regulator;

(b) a change to how StudyDerm works, or a new feature;

(c) security;

(d) to make the terms clearer or correct a mistake.

19.2 Each version shows its date at the top. Every version we have published is listed, with the date it took effect and a short summary of what changed, at https://studyderm.app/terms/history, where you can read each one in full. We will also send you a copy of any version on request.

19.3 A change is significant if it reduces your rights, increases what you pay or what you must do, narrows the service you have paid for, or changes how we use your personal data. We will email you about a significant change at least 7 days before it takes effect (unless the law requires it sooner) and show a notice in the app. A price increase is not a change under this section: it follows section 7, with at least 30 days' notice. You may cancel before it takes effect. If you cancel, the version you agreed to applies until the end of the period you have paid for.

19.4 From the day a significant change takes effect, the app will ask you to accept the new version before you continue studying. Until you accept it, you can still sign in, manage or cancel your plan and use your rights over your data, but you cannot study. You can cancel instead of accepting: the version you agreed to then applies, and you keep your access, until the end of the period you have paid for. If you cancelled before the change took effect, we will not ask you until that period ends.

19.5 Any other change (for example, a correction, clearer wording, new contact details, a new feature, or a change that benefits you) applies when we publish it on this page. It is listed in the version history, and we do not ask you to accept it.

19.6 Price changes follow section 7.

20. Complaints and contact

20.1 If you have a complaint about anything to do with StudyDerm, email support@studyderm.app. How we handle complaints, and how long it takes, is set out in our Content Accuracy and Complaints page.

20.2 Complaints about how we use your personal data go to privacy@studyderm.app and are handled under our Privacy Policy.

20.3 We have not joined an alternative dispute resolution (ADR) scheme. When we tell you the outcome of a complaint, we will also tell you whether any ADR or other arrangement is available to you, as section 308 of the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024 requires.

21. General

21.1 Transfer. We may transfer our rights and obligations under these terms to another organisation, for example if the business is sold. We will tell you, and your rights under these terms will not be reduced. If you are unhappy, you may cancel and we will refund the part of your payment that covers any period after the transfer. You may not transfer your rights or account to anyone else.

21.2 Entire agreement. These terms, the Cancellation and Refunds Policy, and what you were shown at checkout and in your confirmation email make up the whole agreement between us about StudyDerm. This does not limit any statement we made that the law treats as part of the contract.

21.3 Severability. If a court decides that any part of these terms is invalid or unenforceable, the rest stays in effect.

21.4 No waiver. If we do not enforce a right straight away, we can still enforce it later.

21.5 Third parties. Nobody else has rights under these terms.

22. Governing law and courts

22.1 These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.

22.2 You may bring legal proceedings in the courts of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland, you may also bring proceedings in Scotland. If you live in Northern Ireland, you may also bring proceedings in Northern Ireland.

22.3 If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you also keep the protection of any mandatory rules of consumer law where you live.
